The Hotel was originally built in 1764 as a summer retreat, it is easily accessed as it is only a forty minute drive from the airport and provides guests with wonderful opportunities of sightseeing including the most sought after such as the Jagdish Temple and the city Palace Museum. As spectacular as the architecture is, its interiors are just as grand, opulent and awe inspiring providing an oasis expressed through exquisite artistic detail, from the lofty detailed ceilings alive with the whir of ancient ceiling fans, dripping with chandeliers, antique furniture and Chinese wall hangings.
The intricately ornate arches frame views of the lake and city beyond, these beautiful landscapes are reflected in expansive mirrors that edge the spacious lounge areas and atriums and this is the famous backdrop that was featured in a James bond Film.
The Hotel offers its guests 83 Rooms and suites. The Standard rooms face inward and overlook the courtyard and its Lily Pond a very pleasant and restful view however the more coveted views are facing outwards over the lake and across to the city. All of the rooms and suites are beautifully decorated and feature hand painted motifs on the walls, detailed mosaics, marble floors and wonderfully high ceilings are companioned with large ceiling fans.
The rooms provide enormous arched windows that frame exceptional views and flow seamlessly onto balconies and terraces providing for their fortunate guests a quiet and indulgent space. The suites are spacious and provide for their guests wonderful seating areas offering deeply comfortable sofas and occasional chairs, private dining areas allow in room dining a special space has been provided for a study area complemented with high speed internet access, data port, fax machine, lamp and chair.
The master bedroom features an oversize king size beds, dressed fine linens, a selection of dreamy pillows, scatter cushions and decorative covers some of the beds are canopied or four poster in design.
The en suite bathrooms provide bath tub, walk in shower, vanities and complemented with bath robes, slippers and luxurious bath products.
The rooms are further provided with air conditioning, cable/satellite TV, pay per view movies, coffee/tea maker, direct dial telephone with voice mail, international newspapers, refrigerator, mini bar, hairdryer, trouser press, bottle water and 24 hour room service.
Dining at the Taj Lake Palace Hotel is a much celebrated event. The Neel Kamat boasts a colonial ambience which is detailed through beautifully dressed tables covered in embroidered linens, crested china, crystal glass, candles and fresh flowers these tables are surrounded by walls decorated with floral frescoes and finished in araish. It is here that master chefs prepare authentic Rajasthani cuisine. The Restaurant opens out onto the Lily pond courtyard offering and ambience of peace and tranquillity.
The Jharokha provides a relaxed atmosphere and is open all day and provides a variety of global cuisines, it is beautifully decorated with marble Colums, arches, corbels and picturesque views over the lake to the City Palace. The Lily Pond provides alfresco dining and serves a range of continental and Indian specialities. Candlelit dinners accompanied by sitar music may be enjoyed on board the Ganguar Boat whilst cruising the lake.
The Amrit Sagar is the hotels bar and offers a range of international wines and delicious cocktails are created by the master barman.
Business guests will be very impressed by the facilities provided for them as a number of venues exist that may be configured to suit varying function types including business launches, seminars, gala events and confidential meetings, the rooms are beautifully decorated and house the latest of high tech amenities.
