This beautiful resort is set over 30 acres of former hunting grounds on Lake Pichola facing Udaipur offering beautiful views of the city's century royal palaces Jagmandir and Jagniwas. The structure is modelled on Rajasthanis crumbling Mewari originals: open air corridors are flanked by hand carved stone columns, domes covered in gold leaf, hand painted murals, pavilions and fountains.

The resort was built in 2002 and is a profusion of turrets and cupolas, graceful arches and pale gold exterior it is perhaps Rajasthan's best examples of contemporary Indian architecture its beautiful domes and arches are illuminated at night and the white structure is reflected in the lake below. The Hotel offers excellent access being only 3kms from downtown Udaipur and 30km from the international airport.

Guests are provided with the luxury of arriving by boat a very romantic introduction to this wonderful resort and are escorted to the stunning domed lobby whose focal point is the white marble fountain. Check in is a simple procedure while bags are whisked away to the comfortable accommodations. The Hotel offers its fortunate guests 82 rooms and suites that are categorised into 63 deluxe rooms, 19 superior deluxe rooms and a Maharaja Suite.
On the first level are found the sixty three richly appointed deluxe room offering a 55m2 and having their own private walled courtyards, complete with silken parasols, table and chairs. The interiors house massive fireplaces, inlaid furniture and Rajput inspired decoration. The nineteen superior rooms open onto the semi-private moated pool that meanders past the terrace and it is from here guests may either overlook lake Pichola or the wildlife sanctuary at the rear of the Hotel.
More extreme comfort is offered through the Luxury Suites namely The Great Moghul, Orioff and the Regent offering 115mt2 of space these luxurious suites provide private infinity pools and tented dining pavilions and offered a magnificent view of the lake and city which is seen in even more detail through the private telescope. Guests are pampered with private staff and the services of a Butler.
The most luxurious suite is the Kohinoor Suite measuring some 250mt2 of palatial comfort. It has its own fountained courtyards a massive private pool, a sitting room with real fireplaces and a master suite that is fitted with a wooden sauna out size king size bed dressed in fine linens a selection of pillows, duvets, quilts and throws. All of the suites supply comfortable seating areas and study areas that are complemented with high speed internet access and dual line phone. The rooms feature dark wood furniture and original works of art, and are populated with fresh flowers and vibrant colour is introduced via the soft furnishings.
The en suite bathrooms are extravagant affairs offering Victorian hip baths, separate shower cubicles and companioned with slippers, bathrobes and luxurious bath products.
The Facilities' and amenities included within these rooms include: coffee/tea maker, hairdryer, satellite TV, CD and DVD player, electronic safe, air conditioner, voice mail, bottled water, turn down service and 24 hour rooms service.
Udialvilas provides two restaurants serving fine Indian and Continental cuisine. The Surya Mahal is the Hotels main dining room and offers under cover or alfresco dining providing Continental and Asian cuisine and in the evenings live performances of music and dance are given a great sense of drama as gas torches light the scene.
Udaimahal Is a speciality Indian restaurant offers traditional Rajasthani and North Indian cuisine and its special menu has been developed following meticulous research in the traditional royal kitchens of Rajasthan. The domes over Udai Mahal represent the night sky and the Udaipur cityscape, the blue green and the gold reflect the Indian and Rajasthan culture.
The Hotel Bar is a warm and inviting offering comfortable seating and breathtaking views of the Lake Pichola and the City Palace. Here patrons may select from a wide range of international beverages, cocktails, coffees and afternoon teas. It is the deal venue for a relaxed evening. The Poolside Bar serves a range of ice cold cocktails and drink, refreshing salads, snacks and homemade ice cream and sorbets.
In room dining is available as well as taking a picnic on a private gondola or alternatively a group of friends may arrange a meal of the Royal Barge while floating amongst the islands.
